The UEA campus will become a sustainable action hub in April as an event featuring hands-on activities, educational talks, markets, workshops, and international speakers takes place.

Formally known as Climate Week, the event has been rebranded to UEA Sustainability Week and is set to run from 22 April (Earth Day) to 2 May 2026.

The 10-day celebration will also include a sports day, music festival, street food, fashion talks, social media workshops and more.

The events are run by the Students’ Union with support from UEA’s Sustainability Team and Events Team and event partner Triple Bottom Line Accounting.

Environment Officer Jaz Brook, who will be taking on the role of Campaign and Democracy Officer in July, said: “The festival brings together students, staff, local organisations and global voices for an inspiring programme centred on community, collaboration and connection”.

The programme so far includes:

22 April – Earth Day Schools Programme

Local high school students will visit campus to explore sustainability in action, discover university life, and learn how young people can drive meaningful environmental change.

27 April – UEA x SU Sustainability Showcase in The Hive

Departments, clubs, societies, and local organisations come together for an interactive showcase packed with stalls, ideas, and opportunities to get involved in sustainability initiatives across the community.

29 April – Student Climate Hackathon in The Enterprise Centre

Innovation meets impact as students put their entrepreneurial skills to the test. Participants will tackle real-world climate challenges, collaborate in teams, and compete for funding to bring their ideas to life.

29 April – UEA x SU Earth Market on The Street

A celebration of conscious consumption featuring plant-based food, second-hand fashion, refill stations, and sustainable local businesses.

1 May – SU Charity Sports Day by The Zigs and The Square

A classic British sports day with a sustainable twist. Expect egg-and-spoon races, rounders, tug of war and more — all while raising money for charities chosen by participants. The day also features a campus kitchen, BBQ, and community stalls. Register your team here: Sports Day Sign Up!  – Fill in form

Presented by UEA SU Events in collaboration with UEA Sustainability Team, Bloom Festival closes Sustainability Week with an impact-focused music celebration in the Square. Enjoy live performances from local artists, street food, a slushie cart, creative activities, henna tattoos, and more.

More events, speakers, and collaborations will be announced in the coming weeks and via the Students’ Union’s social media.
