Other comments

Here is a selection of the many further comments we received:

“The SU officers and staff are ethuastic and engage well with socities however the bueratic side of things moves insanely slowly and society training vs club committee training is terrible. That said overall I think the SU is a really important part of the UEA and my experience as a committee member for a socitiey has been great.”

“The lack of rooms available to book on campus and the bureaucracy makes it very difficult”

“I think there are a lot of people in the SU that are trying their best. It is just a shame that we don’t actually see that. There is no transparency in the SU. There are lots of people that are putting in the hard work and really care about the SU, but it’s just a shame that the communications and transparency are not letting us see that.”

“I think that the lack of support for society presidents is absolutely shocking. You get placed in a high pressure role with almost no training on how to be a leader in your field. I know that it’s had an impact on my mental health and continues to impact that of my friends. I worry about the Presidents after me and feel guilty handing on such a stressful role.”

“The su is terrible with room bookings. They assign different rooms, times, even change the date of your booking without asking or providing a list of options. They often fail to respond to emails with regards room booking communications, and instead you get a receipt for the booking in your inbox – often a receipt with the details you originally asked for changed, with, again, no consultation.”
