Are you looking for somewhere new to take your partner? Somewhere for a solo date? Or a place for a Galentine’s Day gathering with friends? This list compiles the top 5 food and drink spots perfect for February 14th!

  1. Blue Joanna on Unthank Road

The cool, laid-back atmosphere makes it brilliant for a variety of occasions. They serve incredibly tasty Asian-inspired tapas dishes, which can accommodate a variety of budgets. I’d also recommend their cocktails, costing a reasonable £8.50. They host regular live music nights, and they’re also known for their selection of vinyl records – so you’ll have great songs regardless of the night.

  1.  Don Txoko on Benedicts Street

This Spanish restaurant is known for its tapas, as well as Basque grilled meat and fish. Its tiled walls and warm lighting paired with delicious food makes this spot feels like a little holiday to Spain, right here in Norwich.

  1. The Wallow on Exchange Street

If you love wine, this is the place for you! Here you can find self-service wine dispensers, allowing you to try a variety of different wines. They also offer cheese and charcuterie boards, perfect to pair with your favourite glass. This shared experience is a great conversation starter for first dates – or a great compromise if you and your partner always disagree over red or white!

  1. Gem of Norwich on Thorpe Road

Located on Thorpe Road, Gem of Norwich is another spot great for sharing dishes. They serve hot and cold Turkish meze, full of flavour. For fresh and delicious Mediterranean food, this restaurant really is a gem.

  1. The Bicycle Shop on Benedicts Street

Don’t let the name mislead you; it actually references the building’s history! However, since 2009 it’s been a quirky cafe-bar. During the day grab a coffee or sit with a book, whilst eating from their brunch menu. In the evening, they have a selection of small plates and alcoholic drinks, and you might catch an event on Thursdays. Their furniture and lighting makes for a vintage and inviting feel, like you’ve stepped into someone’s living room. With a wonderfully cosy atmosphere, it’s perfect for combatting first-date nerves.
