With this month being World Theatre Day, what better time to make a visit to the theatre? Here’s a brief look into local performances coming up.
On our very own UEA campus, you may have just missed out on the Drama and Musical Theatre Society’s performance of Our House – however keep an eye out for their next Performance and New Theatre Showcase, also known as PANTS, for a more casual environment full of great talent. The start of this month the UEA drama studio also hosted Minotaur Theatre Company’s The Bacchae.
On March 26th-29th, Sacré Théâtre will be performing Le Chasseur français by Boris Vian at UEA drama studio. The play is about a popular newspaper, suspicious about some of the messages in its personal column, who hires detectives to snoop on the arranged rendezvous. Sacré Théâtre are a French language theatre company, who have performed since 1999.
UEA’s Burlesque Society is hosting a Fundraiser Show alongside Snapdragon Cabaret. You can watch their cabaret night on March 20th in the LCR. All proceeds are going to the charity Eating Matters. You can expect burlesque routines, drag acts, dance numbers, and even a little standup comedy.
The cast for Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society’s production of Les Misérables has just been announced, which will be performed at the Norwich Theatre Royal later this year. This is part of a nationwide project allowing 11 amateur companies to produce their own versions as part of the show’s 40th Anniversary Celebrations this year.
At Cinema City, there are various showings this month of pre-recorded live performances.
This includes The Royal Ballet and Opera’s Romeo and Juliet, and National Theatre’s Dr Strangelove.
