Being one of the Venue Co-Editors this year has honestly been an incredible experience, and something I never thought I would have been able to achieve this time last year. From attending the Student Publication Association awards in Exeter to interviewing sex shop owners, this year has been a blast and I feel so lucky to be a part of the Concrete team. From a very young age, I have always loved the arts and it has been so lovely to work with an incredibly talented team of editors and writers to share this passion. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to battle through the difficulties of InDesign with me!
Though I am not going to continue on as Venue Co-Editor next year (in anticipation of a lot of dissertation stress!) I’m sure I will still find time to keep writing, as that is what brought me to Concrete in the first place. One of my favourite articles I’ve written this year was an exploration of censorship in books, it was really intriguing to research and I think it’s a very important topic of discussion right now. I even went on ‘A Week in Concrete’ – our radio show- to talk about it which was also a very, very cool experience! Though I feel sad about leaving this role, I know Robyn and Micah will be absolutely fabulous and I can’t wait to see what they do!
See you next year!
Polly 🙂
