Learn about the new mental health and wellbeing column, with Norfolk and Waveney Mind‘s Communications Officer.

Hello, my name is Sam. I am the Communications Officer at Norfolk and Waveney Mind and a proud recent graduate of UEA.

During my time here, I experienced first-hand the strength, care, and community spirit that makes this university so special.

Now, I want to make sure every student knows about the support available to them locally.

Norfolk and Waveney Mind is the county’s leading mental health charity. While we’re part of the national Mind network, every penny we raise stays here in Norfolk and Waveney, funding vital services that support thousands of people each year.

From our REST community wellbeing hubs, to suicide bereavement support, low-cost counselling, and our talking therapies service, we are here to provide hope, care, and practical help when it’s needed most.

Uni life can be exciting, but it can also be overwhelming – whether it’s exams, homesickness, financial worries, or just the everyday challenges of student life. Please know you’re not alone.

Whether it’s you needing support, someone in your family, a friend or a uni classmate, we are here for you.

I’ll be writing a regular column here for Concrete, tackling different issues around mental health and highlighting ways you can get involved in our work. Together, let’s ensure no one has to face poor mental health alone.

Be sure to pick up a copy of our September issue to read Sam’s first article.
