A campus-based pharmacy has confirmed that it will reopen following two years of closure.
Blue Bell Road Pharmacy has announced that it will open by the end of next week after an appeal to block the process was overturned.
The pharmacy, based on the University of East Anglia campus, will officially reopen on 9 October.
It comes two years after UEA Students’ Union first announced its closure in June 2023 when Boots terminated the contract for the branch.
UEASU Community and Culture Officer, Amjad Daher, said: “After two years of closure, I’m incredibly proud to see the pharmacy reopen.
“It’s a vital service that will once again be accessible to all students.
“This is more than just a convenience; it’s an essential resource, especially for those managing long-term health conditions or mobility barriers.
“The tireless efforts of students, particularly from the disabled student community, made this possible.
“Their advocacy and determination brought this need back into the spotlight. I’m pleased to have played a part in giving that final push to ensure the doors are open once again for everyone.”

A petition led by the Disabled Students’ Community was launched in September 2023, with the NHS approval process starting in the same year.
It was initially blocked by Allied Pharmacies due to concerns that it was too close to other practices, but was overturned following student pressure.
In August 2024, the site faced construction challenges which delayed its ability to open.
Students, staff and members of the public will be able to collect NHS prescriptions from the site from Thursday onwards.
