1–2 minutes

Count them up like
Mosquito bites on a body
Adding strangers’ names
To a list on my phone
In drunk semi darkness
The club lights making everything seem
Ecstatic
It was always
One more
Collecting kisses
To keep in my pocket
For god knows what
Some affirmation of my
Desirability
A taste of every zodiac

Kissing girls in corridors
Covered in red lipstick
Tell strangers
You find them
Beautiful
Ask to kiss,
The worst they can say is
No.

She grows greedier
That creature crouched
In the pit of my stomach
Ready for
More
She rasps
Into the darkness of my mouth
An Insatiable thing
Clicking her teeth
In delight
Lizard like
Animal
Forgetting their faces
Focused solely on
One
More
Kiss

But it is not
This marathon
I made it out to be
Where kisses blur and become
Something barely remembered

Still she is
Waiting,
Impatient,
For something
Unnamed
For someone to say
You are alive
You are loved
Collect the proof
On your phone
As though
It means
Anything
