How you vote in the Student Officer elections will determine the next year of UEA Su and if the VC will have ice water thrown all over him.

Nominations are now open until Wednesday 19th Feb for the next Student Union officers.

Campaigning and voting officially commence on Wednesday March 5th and conclude on March 12th. The VC and his team have agreed that if a 30% voter turnout is achieved, they will each have a bucket of ice water thrown over them, alongside the SU’ds CEO and Senior Leadership team.

The full-time roles up for grabs Activities and Opportunities Officer, Campaigns and Democracy Officer, Communities and Culture Officer, Undergraduate Education Officer, Postgraduate Officer, as well 14 part-time roles.

Full-time roles are paid, and include additonal responsibilites such as being on the SU’s board of Trustees. All cnandiates must produce a manifesto of ideas they wish to accomplish during their tenure.

For example, the Activities and Opportunities Officer is focused on supporting students grow and develop through extracurricular activities such as our sports clubs and society groups, and would suit someone who is passionate about volunteering, and student activities.

For prospective Officers the Manifesto submission deadline is 5pm on Thursday 20th Feb. Candidate Question Time at the LCR is 6pm on Tuesday 4th March where you can learn more about the new officers to help decide who to vote. Voting and Campaigning opens 9am on Wednesday 5th March and closes on Wednesday 12th March.

Plus, this year, UEA are introducing a new faculty competition. The faculty with the highest percentage of voters will receive the SU Engagement Award, presented as part of the Transforming Education Awards (TEAs).

Lastly, Results Night will be at the Blue Bar 6:30pm on Friday 14th March.
