Norfolk County Councillor Niall Adams won by 650 votes following a 50 per cent voter turn out on the campus.

The administration was previously Labour run, with no overall control ahead of the 2026 local elections.

Students cast votes on campus

Students at the University of East Anglia have voted at an on-campus polling station for the local elections.

The point, set up in The Hive, saw dozens of students cast ballots between 7AM and 10PM in a bid to elect a University Ward councillor.

The elections, which took place across the country, will dictate which political parties run local services such as schools and bin collection.

UEA, which sits within the University Ward division, has been held by Labour since 2004.
