1. OneShot

This bittersweet puzzle game follows the story of Niko, a young cat-person who finds themself in an unfamiliar world devoid of sunlight. Niko misses their home deeply, and thus you are tasked with helping them to leave. However, the world has desperate need of Niko alone to power a new sun before darkness enshrouds it completely. If you have a few hours to spare, OneShot is a wonderful way to spend them.

2. Eastshade

Walking the picturesque forest trails and coastal views of Eastshade feels like a peaceful getaway in the form of a video game. Make your way around the island beloved by your parents as a travelling painter, taking commissions from the friendly animal population and assisting them with their predicaments. Your easel is waiting for you to capture the beauty.

3. Hello Kitty Island Adventure

If you like to have a cosy game you can return to daily, or just sink a lot of time into, Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a great choice to occupy your mind with. I would compare it to Animal Crossing, but with structured quests surrounding the Sanrio characters as you work to bring the life back into an abandoned island resort. You can also play this online with friends!

4. Left4Dead2

Having been released nearly two decades ago, this 4-player zombie shooter radiates nostalgia for many people. It’s a relatively mindless game, and isn’t too hard to get the hang of despite its age. Playing alongside bots is arguably as entertaining as multiplayer, thanks to the banter in the characters’ dialogue. Between their sense of fellowship and the safe rooms, some coziness can be felt playing Left4Dead2.

5. The Long Dark

A survival game based in the frozen wastes of Canada can feel surprisingly snug at times. The Long Dark’s painting-like visuals and immersive winter ambience puts the mind at ease, while the challenging conditions and limited supplies puts it to work. There’s multiple game modes, including a campaign, as well as several difficulty levels to choose from.

6. Cats Organized Neatly

A collection of cute jigsaw puzzles with cats of varying shapes and sizes as the pieces, Cats Organized Neatly is a light-hearted game which doesn’t demand as much time or commitment as the above titles, in case you’d like to play something more laid back (Dogs Organized Neatly also exists if that sounds more like your thing).
