The impact that Taylor Swift and The Eras Tour has had on fashion cannot be overstated. Arguably, one of the most exciting parts of The Eras Tour experience is finding the perfect outfit. Cowgirl hats, sequins, and glitter have become staples of fashion. Countless TikToks and Pinterest boards are inspiring Swifties to make their own outfits, with an outpour of replicas of Swift’s own costumes as well as outfits inspired by her lyrics and music videos.
If you’re a fan of her debut album Taylor Swift, then the cowgirl hat is a must. Lean into the country music vibes with a pair of cowgirl boots, a flowing green or blue dress, and butterfly accessories to match the album cover.
To jazz up the country style with a few more sparkles, grab your ‘best dress’ for Fearless. Glitters and gold are staples of this era so match the cowgirl boots with a sparkly, perhaps even a fringe dress to match Swift’s own costume.
The Speak Now set is famous for its elegant ball gowns, and while ‘a gown shaped like a pastry’ is not practical, it can still be reflected in your outfit choice. A purple mini dress would be much more comfortable, but don’t forget the tulle to give it that ball gown feel.
The Red era is certainly recognisable whether you decide to just use a red colour palette, or to embrace Swift’s on stage looks. Pair a black sequin skirt with one of her iconic slogan shirts and heart sunglasses for the full Red effect!
1989 is one of the more open eras to dress for, but if you want to be ‘standing in a nice dress staring at the sunset,’ stick to a baby blue album cover colour palette for a simple yet elegant look.
The Reputation era will have you looking ‘gorgeous’ in a black leather outfit. Just don’t forget the vital snake accessories and classic red lip.
If you’re in your Lover era then perhaps opt for a pastel colour palette mirroring the album cover, especially baby pink, in either the form of a mini dress or even the iconic Lover bodysuit!
The Folklore and Evermore sisters are less about the sequins and glitter of other eras. Think long, flowing dresses and a nature colour palette of dark green and neutral tones to reflect the forest album covers.
If you’re ‘dressing for revenge’ then the Midnights era is perfect for you. Think dark, royal blues with plenty of sequins to mirror Swift’s own bodysuit.
If you’re a member of The Tortured Poets Department then you better dress accordingly. Think white, corset style dresses paired with elbow length black gloves. Style these with some gothic jewellery and have a go at making a replica of Swift’s own watch necklace (that’s what I did!)
Finally, no matter what era you have decided to dress for, no outfit is complete without Swift’s lucky number 13 on your hand and beads on your wrists. Afterall, she did tell us to ‘make the friendship bracelets.’
