The 2024 Norwich Film Festival (NFF) is fast approaching, opening on Monday the 11th of November with an exclusive screening of John Madden’s Shakespeare in Love (1998), alongside a Q&A with the director himself! So, if you’re looking to rewatch the Oscar winner or catch it for the first time, there isn’t a better place than NFF.  

NFF also has a lot more in store over its two-week run, bringing together films across a range of genres and styles, including animation, comedy, LGBTQ+, documentary and horror. This year’s selection was curated from over 70 countries, creating a diverse programme of films in 27 different languages, with approximately 40% of the films being created by female and non-binary filmmakers.  

Chair of the festival, Professor Keith M Johnston of UEA, says, “At this year’s Norwich Film Festival, we’re proud to celebrate not just the established voices of the film industry, but the creativity and passion of filmmakers from all walks of life. Our festival is a true reflection of Norwich’s growing and vibrant creative community.” So, wherever your interests lie, NFF is for you. It is a wonderful way to connect with the wider city and build a connection with local art.

There will also be cameos from famous names such as the 3x BAFTA-nominated actress Jessie Buckley and Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston (another reason or two to buy some tickets!)
