“Museum of Idiots” by They Might Be Giants
There are metal tubes that pump cold air into The Junction in Cambridge. There are spotlights with sharp edges, ones that lit up They Might be Giants last year. I held my boyfriend’s sweat-free hand and danced to his favourite dorky music. ‘Chop me up into pieces if it pleases, if it pleases. When the chopping is through, every piece will say, I love you’. – Elle McKinnell-Michael
“Drain You” by Nirvana
What can I say about my favourite song of all time? Nirvana rarely made love songs but when they did, they were damn good. With one of the best melodies in all of grunge, Drain You highlights a romance bound in obsession, lust & immense admiration supported by Kurt Cobain’s magic power chords to pull you in and drain you! – Elliott Lecointe
Rule #34 by Fish in a Birdcage
Those familiar with what Rule #34 means will have an inkling as to what this song is about, but it isn’t as crass as you’d imagine. Fish in a Birdcage uses their powerful violin accompaniment to set a dark, moody background for smooth and intimate vocals. A great listen, so long as you aren’t put off by the subject matter. – Andi Gill
