On the 12th of May, I went beloved Bicycle Shop Café in Norwich City Centre to watch a singer called Plumm – that was all that I knew going into the evening.

The Bicycle Shop Café is arguably one of the most unique for a music gig in the city. We descended the tight, winding stairs to reveal the atmospheric bar.

The room felt something out of a movie. The lighting was low and warm – perfection.

Jumbled furniture and a little bar in the corner gave the room a cosy and welcoming feel. The viewers could not have totalled to more than 50, leading to the intimate feel of the evening.

Plumm is a Welsh-born and London-based vocalist – again, this was all I knew going into the evening. What I was not expecting was for the singer to create her own original whimsical sounds on the spot.

Using a solo loop pedal, Plumm’s incredible voice enraptured the crowd. Her sound reminded me of what one would expect a siren to sound like – incredibly alluring. As well as covers, Plumm added her own style to cover artists, such as Fleetwood Mac, which was by far my favourite moment of the evening.

This gig was a beautiful and ethereal performance, and the perfect break away from the intense library study rooms. The Bicycle Shop Café have regular gigs, as well as an extra student discount on a Thursday, plus DJs every Friday.
